Formed in 2003, Southern Shorthaul Railroad (SSR) is a leading provider of hook & pull services in NSW, together with operating a major workshop facility in Bendigo. SSR came about as the result of a successful management buyout of the former Great Northern Rail Services business from CFCL Australia.

SSR has the ability and expertise to provide its customers with a flexible and responsive service-orientated short haul hook & pull solution utilising reliable locomotives. Never letting the customer down is a prime objective of both the rail and workshop business units.

Job security for our employees is of prime importance - our employees are our life blood, and SSR strives to ensure that each employee is proud of their company and is supplied with the necessary equipment to perform their job in a safe and efficient manner. We pay our employees towards the top end of the scale to ensure that we attract and retain the best skilled people that exist.

In any venture SSR undertakes the Directors will make certain that the risk equals the return - this will ensure that SSR will not only survive, but will also thrive. SSR understands that for any business arrangement to be sustainable, it must be equitable for all parties.

SSR also understands that all rail tasks must be performed safely and in adherence with the various statutory requirements - our stakeholders expect nothing less. The Directors understand that they have a moral obligation to ensure that all of the company's activities are conducted in as safe a manner as possible and to not injure our employees.
